How we build this site to work for everyone, and what to do if something does not.

PathWise IT is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who browse with a screen reader, screen magnification, voice control, or a keyboard alone.

The Standard We Work To

We build and test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. It is the standard most widely referenced in the United States, and it is the one we hold our own work to whenever we build or change a page.

Where Things Stand

We believe the main pages of this site substantially conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We say substantially rather than fully on purpose. Every page is checked with automated tooling, and text color combinations are measured against the contrast thresholds rather than judged by eye. Automated testing cannot catch everything, and we have not commissioned an independent audit by an accessibility specialist.

What We Have Worked On

  • Text and button colors are measured against the WCAG contrast thresholds rather than chosen by eye.
  • Each page uses a single main heading with a consistent heading structure beneath it.
  • Decorative graphics are marked so assistive technology skips them instead of announcing them.
  • Images that carry meaning have text alternatives.

Known Limitations

We would rather list these than leave you to find them.

  • Some small section labels are set at 10 pixels. They meet contrast requirements, but they are smaller than some readers will prefer.
  • Links that open in a new tab do not always announce that they will do so.
  • Some content comes from third parties, including embedded forms and review widgets. We do not control their markup and cannot guarantee their accessibility.
  • Pages that predate our current rebuild have not all been brought to the same standard yet.
  • We cannot guarantee the accessibility of external websites we link to.
